Any violation of the Code of Conduct Policy mentioned below may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to warnings, removal from the premises during games or practices, suspension from attending future events, or in severe cases, the removal of the player from the program. These measures are intended to ensure a positive and supportive environment for all players, coaches, and families.
Parent/Guardian’s Code of Conduct
- I realize I have enrolled my child to have fun, develop their softball skills and physical literacy and have a positive team experience and will do my best to support these objectives.
- I will teach my child that doing one’s best and being a good teammate is more important than winning.
- I will support my child’s commitment by attending as many practices and games as possible and will provide the coaching staff with as much notice as possible if my child is unable to attend.
- I will never ridicule or yell at my child or any child for making a mistake or losing.
- I will encourage my child to play by the rules and uphold the values of sportsmanship at all times.
- I will treat all coaches, umpires, league officials, teammates, opponents, and spectators with respect.
- I will respect coaches, umpires, and league official’s decisions and will not undermine their authority on the field.
- I will make a commitment to support the team, but will not coach the players from the stands as I realize that it confuses participants, and undermines the efforts of the coach.
- I will not engage or initiate negative chants, songs, comments or signs towards any player, coach, team, umpire, or officials, and will not use vulgar, lewd, or obscene gestures or language while at the diamond.
- I will remember that my actions and communications reflect upon the Capital Softball Association my players and their families. I will always endeavour to make that reflection positive.
- I will address any questions or concerns to the coaches in an appropriate time, setting and manner.
- I will be responsible for reporting any misconduct by coaches or officials to the proper authorities so it can be dealt with appropriately.
Coach Code of Conduct
- I will remember that I am a mentor to players and in a position of trust and will never place myself in a situation which might bring that trust into question.
- I will maintain an atmosphere of safety in all team activities, practices, and games.
- I will treat all players, coaches, umpires, officials, and spectators with respect.
- I will treat everyone equitably within the context of the activity, regardless of skill, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, or socio-economic status.
- I will remember that my actions and communications reflect upon the Capital Softball Association and my players and their families. I will always endeavor to make that reflection positive.
- I understand that this is a recreational league, and that the objective is for the players to gain an understanding of the game, improve skills and learn about good sportsmanship.
- I will place the emotional and physical well-being of the players on both teams ahead of a desire to win.
- I will be enthusiastic and generous with praise and offer constructive feedback to improve players skill.
- I will balance player rotation for each game and over the course of the season for players to maximize skill development in all aspects of the game.
- I will accept responsibility for the sportsmanship and conduct of my players and their parents. I will hold a meeting in the preseason to explain and discuss these expectations.
- I will not tolerate negative chants, songs, comments or signs by players or parents towards any player, team, umpire, or official and l will encourage positive participation and interactions.
- I will comply with the Capital Softball Association Rules of Play and teach players these rules.
- I understand that umpires are to be respected and will obey the decisions of the umpires and league officials.
Player Code of Conduct
- I will respect the game, my teammates, my coaches, and the umpires.
- I will never make negative comments to a player, coach, or umpire from the bench or on the field and will refrain from using vulgar language/gestures at all times.
- I will never fault other players when mistakes occur and will uphold the values of good sportsmanship.
- I will respect the rules and use the proper equipment at all times.
- I understand that concussions caused by any blow to my head, neck or face or a blow to the body that causes a sudden jarring of the head, can and can be serious, and will tell my coach or parent or guardian about any signs or symptoms I am experiencing.
- I will be responsible for reporting any misconduct by coaches or officials to my parents or guardians so it can be dealt with properly.
- I understand that the goal of playing in the Capital Softball Association is to have fun.
